Mark Nelson serves as Managing Broker and Principal with NelsonHill, where he overseas the operations of thew company and sets the vision and strategic initiatives for the firm. Mark specializes in the sale and leasing of commercial property ranging in product class from unimproved land, ground up development, commercial and industrial buildings. He has in-depth experience in complex real estate transactions for investment-grade, income-producing assets. Mark develops and manages new and existing client relationships and creates marketing strategies that ensure that clients’ objectives are maximized. Utilizing his extensive market knowledge, Mark develops strategic plans for the disposition and acquisition of assets. His thorough understanding of banking and capital markets is invaluable in assisting clients with complex transaction financing.
Prior to launching NelsonHill in 2010, Mark worked as a commercial real estate broker since 2004 at Paine Wetzel ONCOR International. Mark has consistently been a Top Producers in the Chicago region year after year. He works with property owners, tenants, developers and institutions. By gaining an in depth knowledge of his clients’ challenges, Mark provides a full service, entrepreneurial approach which utilizes the best in class technology and resources to enable his clients to achieve the best possible results in the shortest possible time period. In addition, Mark has extensive experience with adaptive reuse of properties. His responsibilities have included conducting sealed bid auctions, identifying qualified developers and preparing feasibility reports on such issues as zoning, physical due diligence and financing.
Mark Nelson was nominated for the 2016 NAIOP Awards of Excellence, and awarded the prestigious “Industrial Broker Transaction of the Year Award”, for the Preferred Freezer deal valued at $112,000,000, a 227,000 SF Build-to-suit transaction at Pilsen Park Chicago.
Mark is an active member of the Chicago Real Estate community, serving in various leadership roles for many years. He belongs to the SIOR Board of Directors, where he currently serves as Chicago Chapter Secretary. He also heads up the “NH Give Back” initiative which includes a $20,000 CPS Graduate, University Scholarship Program sponsored by NelsonHill.
Mark lives in Roscoe Village with his wife Courtney and three children, Olivia (9), Ryan (7) and Brooke (5).
