NH Give Back
Building a Culture of Generosity.
At NelsonHill we have a passion to build a real estate company that exists not just for success but also for significance.
The NH Give Back Program was established to give back to the communities we serve. This initiative is in the grassroots phase of its life cycle. We have been intentional in making this a part of NelsonHill from day one. Our hope is that the NH Give Back Program will have an impact far greater and far more significant then the services we provide.
By establishing a heart of generosity and social responsibility into the fabric of our company, we intend to make an impact in Chicago and beyond.
The NelsonHill Scholarship Program is a $20,000 scholarship awarded to a CPS graduate who consistently displays superior academic excellence, sporting achievement and leadership skills. Our candidate will receive $5,000 each year, for four (4) years of undergraduate enrollment. Our 2015 scholarship winner, Rebecca Sudworth, attended the CPS Walter Payton High School where she was captain of the all-city Water Polo team. She is now enrolled at North Eastern University in Boston.
Misericordia is a well-established not-for-profit community organization whose mission is to provide resources to developmentally disabled residents in Chicago. Their 31-acre campus provides residential options and a wide variety of activities for those in need. At NelsonHill, we support their mission and last year contributed $6,000 as part of the Sterling Bay’s annual Benefit Bash which raised over $150,000 for this good cause.
World Bicycle Relief
Founded on the belief that bicycles improve access to education, healthcare and economic opportunity, the World Bicycle Relief non-profit organization has made it their mission to support students and young professionals in developing countries in rural Africa. Their Buffalo bicycle is designed to accommodate the rugged African terrain. For as little as $147 you can provide a bike to someone who could really use it!
San Miguel School Chicago
The Chicago Public Schools (CPS) average graduation rate was a staggering 66.3% in 2014 (source: Chicago Tribune). The San Miguel School in Chicago is a neighborhood school in the Back of the Yards community on Chicago’s Southwest side. Their mission is simple: support students through their most transitioning time (6th – 8th grade) to improve academically and navigate the intricacies of the CPS High School selective-enrollment process. Our Managing Director, Douglas Hayes has personally supported this mission with his active involvement serving on the Board of Directors.
